Educational Requirements Having a degree isn't necessarily a prerequisite for becoming a recruiter, but it can certainly help. While higher education is necessary for many other professional careers, when it comes to hiring, you can start from scratch and still make money. That means you don't need to have a bachelor's degree or go through any other higher education program before joining the industry. At least not if you're starting out with a staffing agency or as a freelancer.
But don't get this wrong, once you get into the industry, you'll need to be prepared to learn the trade. If you've decided to pursue recruitment, you may not know where to start. To begin with, there is no degree in recruitment. To embark on this satisfying and rewarding career, you must learn how to become a recruiter.
If you want to sell your hiring services to potential hiring companies, customers, and candidates, you need sales skills. A recruitment career is starting to look good, but that doesn't mean it's the right job for everyone. A day in the life of a recruiter may also include writing job descriptions, meeting with company managers to determine the skills and characteristics they are looking for in a candidate, scheduling interviews, and conducting telephone audits. Understanding the distinctions between the two (types) of recruiters makes things clear for me as a reader and as an aspiring recruiter.
